Making Business Cards
Business cards must deliver information to people in a way that is simple and won’t make them work to find that information. It should allow them to keep in contact with the person or company included on the business card. The cards must be simple and be able to be read easily. Using business cards will allow people to network efficiently and effectively.
The images or designs on the card must be related to what the person or company does, and must be simple yet eye catching enough to catch people’s attention. The quality and thickness of the card plays a major role, and well as the size of the card. A card that is too fragile may easily tear, and if the card is too small people won’t be able to read the card or may easily loose it. If the card is too large then people may not be able to easily keep it somewhere.
How the business card is designed sets the tone of the business. Using metallic or shiny designs allows for the business to seem sleek and futuristic, whereas using fun shapes and bright colors makes the business seem fun and playful. To draw attention, certain areas or portions of the card can be highlighted, such as the company's name or contact information.
Business cards can be easily made by the owners themselves, but professional card makers can design and make a variety of different cards, such as plastic, metal, rubber and even wood. They can also include unique designs such as watermarks or UV coats. Recently some business cards have also been made with a USB flash drive or CD that holds information about the company that people can access electronically.
