Business cards must deliver information to people in a way that is simple and won’t make them work to find that information. If the card is too large then people may not be able to easily keep it somewhere.

Using metallic or shiny designs allows for the business to seem sleek and futuristic, whereas using fun shapes and bright colors makes the business seem fun and playful. To draw attention, certain areas or portions of the card can be highlighted, such as the company's name or contact information.
Business cards can be easily made by the owners themselves, but professional card makers can design and make a variety of different cards, such as plastic, metal, rubber and even wood. They can also include unique designs such as watermarks or UV coats. Recently some business cards have also been made with a USB flash drive or CD that holds information about the company that people can access electronically.
